Description

Having left the hollers of Kentucky 15 years ago, Raylan Givens now lives in Miami, a walking anachronism balancing his life as a U.S. Marshal and part-time father of a 15-year-old girl. His hair is grayer, his hat is dirtier, and the road in front of him is suddenly a lot shorter than the road behind. A chance encounter on a desolate Florida highway sends him to Detroit. There he crosses paths with Clement Mansell, aka The Oklahoma Wildman, a violent, sociopathic desperado who's already slipped through the fingers of Detroit's finest once and aims to do so again. Mansell's lawyer, formidable Motor City native Carolyn Wilder, has every intention of representing her client, even as she finds herself caught in between cop and criminal, with her own game afoot as well. These three characters set out on a collision course in classic Elmore Leonard fashion, to see who makes it out of the City Primeval alive.

  • Don’t waste your time

The original series is excellent. Watched every season of it before starting this and it just doesn’t measure up. Timothy Olyphant slips right back into the role and is always a pleasure, but even he can’t save this pretentious borefest. A bland story that sacrifices quality on the alter of political pandering. It might’ve been redeemable if they could’ve gotten some of the characters right, but they couldn’t even do that. Don’t taint your memory of the original by watching this. Just remember the good ol’ days and that Boyd and Raylan dug coal together and that’s where it ended.
  • Should have never been brought back

The original series is one that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was well written and the acting was great. However, if you are looking for any of that in this new iteration of the series you are wasting your time. It is poorly written, and has uninteresting characters, and I am not sure who there target audience is or if they even know. The main character acts very little like you would have expected after watching six seasons of the far superior show. If you feel the need to watch this, just go back and watch the original. This one is a complete waste of time and appears to have been so bad it only warranted one season.

Went back and watched all 6 seasons after watching this new season. We loved it!
  • Quality Production - Story not Grabbing Me

The last 15 minutes of the last episode is all that interested me. This storyline could’ve been done well inside one episode. It wasn’t all that interesting. Holbrook is great though. Olyphant is the man, as usual. Hope it comes back with another in more the classic structure and follows up where it left off here.
  • Disappointing

The writing is weak, weak, weak. It's always fun to watch Tim but not his child so much. Nepotism is not a good thing.
  • Not as good as the original.

This time they failed miserablly. The Detroit setting is dismal. Somewhat woke. I just wouldn't never see him getting together with the attorney in real life. The anatagonist was just evil and too violent. Not much of an anti-hero. At least Crowder was likeable at times. Bring back Crowder and Ava.
  • Ok, but nothing special

If you are hoping for the chemistry of the original series, you’re going to be disappointed. A lot of what made the original series great is lost in this mini-series. It’s an ok storyline, but nothing special.
  • Should have been so much more.

Raylan is back but that is it. That pretty much sums it up. Everything else that made the original series one of the best ever is all missing. The characters are bland. The show is boring and by the numbers. The romance is forced and there is absolutely no chemistry. It is clear as day that they basically took Raylan from one universe and put him into another where he doesn’t belong. It’s really a disappointing show that could have been so much more if they even tried to treat it like Justified instead of just using the Justified name and T.O. to make a quick buck.

It loosely follows the book City Primeval by Elmore Leonard. The novel itself is not that great. I give the storyline a 8.5-9/10. I always pictured the judge as being white. It would have been better to see the judge as Caucasian. Mansell is great. Det. Cruz is Raylan Givens. And you know any gunslinging showdown with Timothy Olyphant is 100% gold. I hope they keep making more Justified series. Obviously they will be different and some better than others. Random thought: Timothy Olyphant should make western’s. I’m late for the 7th episode. Watch it buy it 😍 ✌️
