Description

Patty Greene (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Lauren Hutchinson (Amy Linker) meet two other "square pegs": best friends Marshall Blechtman (John Femia), an aspiring comedian, and New Wave rocker "Johnny Slash" Ulasewicz (Merritt Butrick). Still, Patty and Lauren want to be "in" with the cool kids, like Valley Girl-wannabe Jennifer DiNuccio (Tracy Nelson), ultra-hip LaDonna Fredericks (Claudette Wells), and head cheerleader and go-getter Muffy Tepperman (Jami Gertz). Somehow, they will learn how to fit in and make it, not just in high school but in life.

This is a classic that anyone who grew up in the 80s will relate too. Yay for the geeks at heart.

I'm a 14 year old and i really like this show. Whenever i watch an episode, i have to watch the whole series because its so funny. It's sad that there were only 19 episodes ... but all good things have to come to an end.

For fans of Sex in the City, see where SJP's career REALLY started. This show was a childhood favorite and still stands up well to many other teen comedies today. It far surpasses most shows of it's genre (plus who else has a school dance headlined by Devo!) If you've never seen it, give it a chance, I bet you'll get hooked.

I remember watching the show with my older cousins who loved it. The typical awkward teen fit-in show. There are some good actors who came out of the 2 year series. Does anyone remember the episode where the girl is roller skating and breaks her leg?

In my mind, Square Pegs was a lot funnier than it really is. Of course, I'm a 40-something who watched the show religiously when it was aired around 1982. But I really didn't remember much other than the name and Sarah Jessica Parker. Well, the memories do come flooding back in just a few shows but wow, this was not really all that good. Production values are really low-end. Writing is rather dull and trite. Acting is mediocre at best. The best part is the nostalgia of Pac Man and just hearing that music again, but it gets old pretty quick. My Korean wife who obviously didn't grow up with this just can't sit through a single episode - but to put into context, she clearly appreciates the high art of The Brady Bunch and The Mary Tyler Moore Show so she does have taste. So, though this is a mediocre review, I guess I've already downloaded five shows so it can't be that bad. It's probably more entertaining to buy the dvd to see the extras. speaking of extras - why can't iTunes get that, I'd pay for that! And, it's pretty obvious that sarah jessica parker got a nosejob at some point and stopped eating, because she looks better in her 40s than she did here in her late teens... but, sorry, that's a bit cruel but she sure was cute and sweet. ugh.

I'm SO happy this is finally out! I'm sure the show hasn't aged gracefully, but I love it and would highly recommend it to anyone that lived through the 80's, or is curious about life in the early 80's. This is a perfect video time capsule.
