This psychological thriller is a perfect drama. Just the right amount of romance, the mundane and twists... this will get your head working!

hi people why can't i rent this tv show? am i alone with that problem....or is it just not possible to rent it? and by the way....greatest thriller-series that i've ever watched.

I just can't say enough about how great this show is but halfway through the last episode it stops and will not start back up. Is anyone else having this problem? I am watching it on my iPad but that should not matter as I watched this whole season so far on my iPad, any thoughts would be appreciated.

The revolutionary format -- creating a 'tesseract'-like sequence of time to reveal the unfolding of countless twists and details, essentially backwards (think of a typical series going from A-B-C-D...; DAMAGES goes from A-X-B-W-C-V-D ... it is more satisfying and brain twisting than the last two disappointing seasons of 24 in its revolutionary format-- this show equally inventire but diametrically different in its almost anti-'real time' plotting). The pilot is a virtuoso introduction to an epic sprawl of characters, defying the awkward normalcy of most pilots that find their footing after several episodes. Ted Danson and Zjelko Ivanek are revelatory as a shady but guilt-ridden client-lawyer team pitted against Patty Hewes, an absolutely brilliant Glenn Close (who, along with Ivanek, richly deserved her 2008 Emmy). Close indubitably creates one of television history's most complex, frightening, brilliant, heroic, manipulative characters. (Look for shades of FATAL ATTRACTION type pathos mixed with the snooty deviousness of her work in DANGEROUS LIAISONS, forming someone entirely original, two-sided and human in Patty. One cannot rave enough about her work here.) And Rose Byrne rounds out the terrific cast, the moral and sympathetic focus of the series, as a naive yet savvy, tragic new lawyer under Patty. Byrne's work is tremendously nuanced, powerful and she carries the weight of the show's pov in unearthing its shocking secrets on her slim shoulders. She has real star quality, viable, fragile presence, and FX has arguably eclipsed AMC's MAD MEN with TV's most compelling, unique vision of humanity and its gray areas and dark, dark corners...

I've never written an online review for anything but.... This show is AMAZING!! I just finished watching Season 1 on itunes. Phenomenal acting and a great, gripping story!! Thank you to all involved!

this show is amazing. simply put. i love how the characters are what they are, human. filled with flaws yet also smart and talented. no one is really the "bad" guy, although clearly we see that frobisher is the antagonist in the first season. but we see the downfalls of all the characters, and their vulnerabilities. we also see the good in them, and their motivations for doing the things they do, including frobisher. a show that makes you sympathize with the antagonist, even if for the slightest second, is a great show. it is multi-faceted and definitely not one dimensional. the character development is superb. this show is definitely fast paced. but the plot is always keeping you busy. i like how there are central motives and themes that outline the whole first season. i also love how the story comes full circle, while still leaving a little loose ends for the start of season two. amazing. superb. brilliant. GENIUS! must watch.
